Are you a WARRIOR, SETTLER or a NOMAD?
(Based on the book "Warriors, Settlers & Nomads: Discovering Who We Are & What We Can Be"
by Terence Watts - Presented on this website with his kind permission)

You are about to discover the ‘REAL’ you and it may be somewhat of a surprise.  The Warrior, Settler and Nomad theory developed by Terence Watts  is a powerful methodology, remarkably accurate and I use it all the time in my client sessions.

As you begin to discover the elements and natural urges that drive each of these individual parts you’ll undoubtedly come across yourself and your friends and family too.  This information is not only going to help you discover your own natural traits and answer some long sought after questions about yourself but it will teach you how to deal, converse, do business or get along with every person you meet from now on.

For a real in-depth explanation on how this theory was developed and how you can utilise it further in your own life, you can purchase the book, WARRIOR, SETTLER & NOMAD from this site.

Which Are You?

Before you read the brief descriptions about the personality types please note that there is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ personality to be.  Each has positives and negatives and can be good or bad in different situations.

HIGHEST SCORE IN A

Congratulations you are a WARRIOR

Warriors are determined, forceful and know where they are going in life. There main goal is survival. They are not the most sociable of people and don’t mind saying exactly what comes to mind about a certain person or situation.  They don’t suffer fools gladly can make logical and precise decisions and then implement them with a high degree of tenacity.  They like control and organization of situations and hate to have their control taken away.  They hate being wrong and even more so hate admitting it.  They can be dictatorial, leaders or crusaders in their plights.

HIGHEST SCORE IN B

Congratulations you are a SETTLER

Aiming for security at all times Settlers are the nice people of the world.  They aim to please and hate it if they upset people.  Generally smiling a lot they like to be liked and can adapt themselves to all manner of situations ensuring the fit in with the crowd.  Not always good at making decisions they can falter when it comes to the crunch and shy away from hard cutting choices.  Caring and compassionate.

HIGHEST SCORE IN C

Congratulations you are a NOMAD

Nomads are here for pleasure and fun.  Needing a high degree of stimulation nomads get bored easily and need the next big thing to move on to.  Often traveling around and not choosing to settle in one place for long these types can often be found entertaining anyone who will listen to them. They love to be noticed and will choose clothes and items that make them stand out from the crowd.  Responsibility is not a high priority and any claim of trying to tie down a nomad will often result in them running for the nearest door to escape.

So now you know which one of the categories above you fit into you may have a clearer idea of why you are the way you are.  You may have also been able to identify with some of the other traits from the other groups as well.  This is because we carry all three parts within our personality it’s just that there will often be a dominant present.

People are not always as they seem

The moment we are conceived our natural personalities are in place and nothing can be done to override them – except the people who raise us and this can create all manner of problems.  For example a child born with a warrior personality may be born to a settler and nomad parent.  As it is not the case that just because our parents have one type of personality that we will be born with the same personality.  So the warrior child is raised with settler and nomad qualities because that is the parenting values.  However the warrior child with natural urges to be in control and push forward for survival is stunted by parents who enjoy being sociable, caring, laid back, non-ambitious, fun-loving and outgoing.

So what happens is that the child grows up,  not knowing any different and becomes the child that he is expected to be but all the time feels ‘wrong’ inside.  Inner conflict arises during adolescence and adulthood creating a sense of utter bewilderment and loneliness as they believe they are the only person that must feel this way, that there is something wrong with them. When they try to aspire to the life they have learnt to have they can’t understand why it doesn’t make them happy.  What is happening is that a learnt settler or nomad part of him is trying to override the natural warrior.  All the time, the warrior is trying to be heard and to live but the person feels he should behave like a settler or nomad – make sense?

So when you meet someone and you think you have them sussed just remember they may be hiding their ‘true’ personality type as they have not discovered how to be that person, just someone they’ve learnt to be.

So this is why this method of therapy and self-discovery is so powerful.  You can truly discover who you really are and how you fit into the world.

Utilising the other two

And remember we all have all three parts within our personalities so whichever is dominant the other two can always be tapped into to use in the appropriate situations.  For example you are predominantly a settler and like to be liked, you’re not loud and don’t like that much attention but you’re going to a party soon and just need a little confidence to get you through the evening.  So by discovering which other part would be best in that situation you can create of Visual Mental Image (VMI) of that part and see the way they might look, the way they might dress, talk, walk and behave.  Then you can use that image to give you confidence for the situation you need it in.  We are dealing with subconscious processes and tapping into your mind and your imagination, so whatever image you create has come from your subconscious and will be right for you.
